Daima enters just then and praises the king for being so brave and understanding in spite of such a great tragedy. She says that the queen would have trouble conceiving a second time. Daima realises that the king and queen are not aware about the miscarriage. Gangadhar and Laxmibai are devastated at the news. Gangadhar accuses Laxmibai for the loss and walks away in anger.
