When Manson tells the Peshwa that the Britons are about to hang 20 Bithur locals, Sakharam informs the Peshwa that not one of them is a Marathi. The Peshwa successfully bribes Manson to stop the Britons from crushing the locals. But Tatya Tope's insinuation that Manson is easily corruptible angers Manson and the Peshwa.
